Offering You the Very Best Palliative Care, Hospice Care, and Grief Support

West Michigan’s most trusted and utilized provider of palliative care, hospice care, and grief support since 1983.

Compassionate Care and Support When You Need It Most

At Harbor Palliative Care, Harbor Hospice, and the Scolnik Healing Center, we put the needs of our patients and their families first. Our expertise is providing relief from pain, symptoms of serious illness, and medication side effects, as well as emotional and spiritual support. We assist patients who are continuing treatments or transitioning to hospice care and offer life-changing grief support for adults and children.

Palliative Care

If you are struggling with the symptoms of a serious illness or the side effects of medical treatments, and you want to continue to treat your medical condition, call our Palliative Care team. They will work in partnership with you and your doctor and offer you options for care that will help you feel better so you can resume activities that are important to you like attending a grandchild’s wedding or playing cards with friends. Patients can continue receiving palliative care for as long as they choose.

Hospice Care

When the life of your loved one is no longer going to be measured in years, maybe not even in months, our hospice team is uniquely qualified to bring that person the comfort and peace of mind they seek. Our specially trained staff and volunteers go wherever our patients are, anywhere in our five-county region, whether they live at home or in a home-like setting.

Using a combination of traditional medications along with therapies such as art, massage, and music, our specially trained hospice care team can help make a dying patient’s quality of life better and provide support to those who surround that patient.

When dying at home isn’t the best option for a patient, many choose to move to our lovely Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence in Muskegon. This gracious center has fourteen private rooms for patients and is the only residential hospice in our region. It is staffed 24 hours a day with warm, caring, specially trained staff who surround each patient with peace and comfort.

If you’re considering hospice care for yourself or someone close to you, call us now. There is no need to wait. And the sooner you call, the sooner we can be there for you. We’ll help you make a plan so that the end of life can be the best life possible, for as long as possible.

Grief Support

At the Scolnik Healing Center, our grief counselors help children and adults cope with loss. Understanding that everyone grieves differently, we offer individual counseling, group gatherings, and a library of reading materials.

We also offer supportive, fun events like Cooking for One classes for those who have lost a spouse or partner and face an empty chair at the dinner table each night, as well as a three-day camp in June for children who have lost a loved one.

Your Journey, On Your Terms, With Our Support.

Since accepting our first patient in 1983, we have lived our mission every day—to provide expert care with compassion and support for people facing a serious illness, nearing the end of their life, or struggling with the loss of someone they love. Thanks to generous donors and broad community support, we never turn away a patient who cannot pay for care.
