Hope in Hospice book release

After working for Harbor Hospice for nearly 20 years, Dr. Gerald Harriman noticed one major flaw. That people were delaying Hospice care.

“What I found is that people were fearful of hospice, either because of experience or family stories or misinformation or they misunderstood,” Harriman said. “I wanted to show people that there’s no reason to wait.”

Harriman recently retired from his position as Medical Director for Harbor Hospice but wanted to continue educating people on what Hospice care is, and why it’s important.

His new book “Hope in Hospice”, does just that.

“It just hit me when I was working at Harbor, that hope is holding onto promising expectations,” Harriman said.

Harriman explains that hope can look different for each person. Maybe it means letting go of curing your cancer and instead getting to take a trip you’ve always dreamed of or reconnecting with family or staying active for as long as possible.

His book provides resources for those who need help finding out what hope means for them, as well as support for caregivers and physicians who treat them.

The book is available on Amazon as a paperback copy, as well as through the publishing website Credo House Publishers.
