Harbor Hospice’s Compassionate Givers group gathered for their first meeting of the year, setting an inspiring tone for the months ahead. This dedicated group of supporters came together with a shared purpose: to deepen the impact of palliative and hospice care in our community through thoughtful giving and meaningful connection.
This meeting marked a special milestone as it was the first led by newly appointed Chair, RandiLynn Talsma. With warmth and enthusiasm, RandiLynn guided the group through the vision for the year, bringing fresh energy while honoring the heart of what Compassionate Givers represents. Her leadership created an inviting space for both returning members and those newer to the group to engage, learn, and feel inspired.
A key highlight of the meeting was the introduction of the group’s first project of the year—supporting Massage and Reiki therapies as part of Harbor Hospice’s Circle of Care. These complementary therapies play a powerful role in enhancing comfort, reducing stress, and promoting peace for patients navigating serious illness. By addressing not just physical needs but emotional and spiritual well-being, Massage and Reiki services embody the holistic approach that defines hospice care.
Through this project, Compassionate Givers members have the opportunity to directly support services that bring moments of calm, relief, and connection to patients and their families. Stories and insights shared during the meeting helped illustrate the profound difference these therapies can make—offering comfort when it is needed most.
This was the first project of the year that Compassionate Givers are presented with, the next meeting will focus on Music Therapy, and the one after that will focus on Art Therapy. Then in December of 2026, the group will meet for a final time and vote on which of these three presentations they would like to support, the winner will receive all of the funds Compassionate Givers donated this year.
As the group looks ahead, there is a shared sense of purpose and excitement for what can be accomplished together. With compassionate leadership and a meaningful mission, this first gathering served as a powerful reminder of the impact that dedicated individuals can have when they come together in support of others. We want to send a thank you to The Block in Muskegon for providing us with a great space to meet, as well as Grand Finale in Spring Lake for providing a lovely light dinner for our members to enjoy.
We are grateful for the continued commitment of our Compassionate Givers and look forward to a year filled with generosity, connection, and care. To learn more about our Compassionate Givers, refer to our Donor Groups page to learn about how you can join us next time!
