We invite you to schedule a tour of our hospice residence.
The Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence
The Poppen Hospice Residence exemplifies the unique vision of Harbor Hospice providing people with the opportunity to live out their journey – on their terms – with the help of our expertise. The Poppen Hospice Residence serves people who are terminally ill and in the final stages of life, when providing care at home is no longer the best option.
Patients can benefit from care at the residence for:
Respite for the caregiver
Psychosocial and emotional support
Medical needs are complex and too difficult to manage at home
Expertise in pain and crisis management
Help control breathing and anxiety issues
“I couldn’t have asked for better care. I will always know that the final small smile on Laurie’s face will express the place in my heart that the Poppen House will always have when the story of Laurie’s life is told. Thank you is an over-used expression, but it is all I have.” Joe Dawson
When a terminal illness keeps patients in bed much of the time, it changes how they experience life.
With that always at the heart of the design, the Poppen Hospice Residence was built around the view from the pillow. Each of the 14 private patient rooms maximizes comfort in a home-like atmosphere where family will feel welcomed and relaxed. Families are invited to stay the night or go home to rest; there is always someone watching over loved ones while you are away.
The Poppen Hospice Residence is picturesque during any season with walking paths large enough to accommodate patient beds during the warmer weather. The residence is easily accessible from US-31 or I-96; and The Lakes Mall and other conveniences are nearby.
Hospice care at the Poppen Hospice Residence is covered in full by Medicare and Medicaid. Most private insurance plans include a hospice benefit where deductibles and co-pays may apply. A daily room and board fee is charged at the residence in addition to covered hospice care services. Harbor Hospice Intake Specialists will provide patients and families with information about insurance benefits and community support funding available to those who qualify.
Once enrolled in Hospice care, if your loved one is doing well at home, but you need a little time off, the Poppen Hospice Residence is available for respite care. We welcome your loved one for a mini stay there for up to five days and nights, and they will receive the same personalized care and medical attention as our full-time residents.
