Annual event raising funds and awareness for the Harbor Hospice Foundation and supporting The Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence program will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 in Fruitport, Michigan, as well as virtually between May 22 and May 29 (10:00 am).

Again this year the 40th Annual Fruitport Old Fashioned Days 5K run will benefit the Poppen Hospice Residence.   Run, jog, walk, or ride in memory or honor of a loved one!

We will be joining together for the 5k or bike ride events this year. If according to CDC and state health guidelines it is not recommended we will flip to an only virtual platform. In person 5k and leisure bike ride will take place in-person on Saturday, May 29 OR you can go virtually and run, jog, walk or bike between Saturday, May 22 and May 29 (by 10:00 am to count for run).

Runners, walkers, joggers and bikers must register online and are encouraged to practice social distancing and wear face masks before events begin. All proceeds from online registration and crowdfunding to benefit the Poppen Hospice Residence in Fruitport Township. Since 2006, the Fruitport and surround communities have supported the charity bike ride with almost $17,500 in proceeds benefiting our inpatient hospice program, The Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence, which opened in 2005.  Over 3,000 patients and families have called this their home at end-of-life.

DON’T FORGET to crowdfund support for your run or ride. Top crowdfunder will win a surprise gift card and bike or run swag!  Raise funds for your run or ride by creating a simple fundraising page and sharing link through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Start a fundraising page here.

A quote from our sponsor

“My family and I know how important hospice care is because we experienced it with my mom,” says Jim Kauppila, member of the Fruitport Lions Club and chair of the Ride to Remember. “Many of our riders come back year after year, and we’re all grateful to be able to support the Poppen Hospice Residence with this fun event.”
