Run, jog, walk or ride with us!

Annual event raising funds and awareness for the Harbor Hospice Foundation and supporting The Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence program originally scheduled for in-person and virtual transitioned to virtual-only between May 22 and May 29.

Again in 2021, the 40th Annual Fruitport Old Fashioned Days 5K run benefited the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. Participates ran, jogged, walked, or rode in memory or honor of a loved one!

“Although our event looked different this year, The Run and Ride to Remember continues to help sustain the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. The event is successful because of the participants, Fruitport Lions Club, Fruitport Chiropractic, and X-Cell Integrated Health. Thank You!!, said Ammy Seymour, Director of Development for the Harbor Hospice Foundation.

Since 2006, the Fruitport and surrounding communities have supported the charity bike ride with over $19,000 in proceeds benefiting our inpatient hospice program, The Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence, which opened in 2005.  Over 3,000 patients and families have called this their home at end-of-life.

A crowdfunding campaign also raised funds for participates run or ride in 2021.

A quote from our sponsor

“My family and I know how important hospice care is because we experienced it with my mom,” says Jim Kauppila, member of the Fruitport Lions Club and chair of the Ride to Remember. “Many of our riders come back year after year, and we’re all grateful to be able to support the Poppen Hospice Residence with this fun event.”
