April is National Volunteer Month. We appreciate our volunteers and our Volunteer Coordinator. They ARE Essential.
Paula has been with Harbor Hospice since 2010, celebrating 11 years! For the entire time that she has been at Harbor Hospice our volunteer percentage has been well above the Medicare requirement of 5%. She has also been instrumental in leading Harbor Hospice through achieving We Honor Veterans Level 4 status.
“She makes recruiting and retaining our volunteers look easy, which is largely due to the great reputation of Harbor Hospice in our community AND Paula’s natural ability to connect with people and match them with a volunteer role that suits them best,” says Amy Geldersma, Social Work & Counseling Services Manager.
“Throughout the pandemic she has kept in touch with our volunteers in meaningful ways (hand delivering a gift to each volunteer last year when our appreciation luncheon was cancelled) and has graciously stepped up to fulfill many of their roles when it wasn’t yet safe for them to return. She is always positive and determined to help Harbor Hospice succeed in our mission. Her spirit and her laugh are contagious and we are so blessed by Paula Poel!”
We love our Volunteer Coordinator. Thank you for all you do every day!
